Tuition Aid Grants
Eligible PBA members who are enrolled full-time in an accredited technical school, or in an undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate program at an accredited college or university can apply for educational aid.
Grants of up to four hundred dollars ($400.00) per year are available. The maximum benefit period is for a duration of four (4) years. The student must meet the institute’s standards for scholastic progress.
Please see the Application Form here for more details.
Orphan’s Income Benefit
This benefit offers some peace of mind to eligible PBA members who worry about what would happen to their children if they were orphaned.
Each eligible child will receive financial support from PBA should he or she be orphaned by the accidental death of both parents. For the care, maintenance, and education of each eligible orphan, PBA will provide support payments to the child’s legal guardian based on the child’s age and the amount of permanent life insurance each parent owned with PBA. These income benefits will cease if the orphan marries, or begins receiving grants under the Orphan’s Scholarship Benefit.
Orphan’s Scholarship Benefit
Each eligible orphan can receive a fraternal grant each year to cover tuition, books, and living expenses. The child must be enrolled full-time in an accredited technical or vocational school in a two (2) year program leading to an associate degree or its equivalent, or an accredited college or university in a four (4) year undergraduate course of study.
Grant limits are based on the amount of permanent life insurance owned by the parents with PBA at the time of their accidental deaths.
Newborn Infant Protection
Eligible PBA members may purchase five thousand ($5,000.00) of permanent life insurance on their newborn at standard rates regardless of the infant’s health. The application for the insurance must be completed and the first full premium paid before the infant is sixty (60) days old. The insurance takes effect on the infant’s sixtieth (60th) day of life.
Any infant, even those born with serious on terminal birth defects, can be insured. PBA will automatically provide a one thousand dollar ($1,000.00) death benefit for each eligible newborn infant beginning with the eight (8th) day of life and continuing through the fifty-ninth (59th) day of life. No application is needed.
In the event of an eligible infant’s death during this term period, parents need only submit certified birth and death certificates to receive the one thousand dollars ($1,000.00).
